What are "Reflections" and what makes them so special?
I developed Reflections sessions after I realized that this was often how I enjoyed portraits of my own family and wanted to create a way to share that with my BELLOMO STUDIOS family.
"Reflections" are about the simple, honest, unrefined moments in our lives. This session is not the session you "get ready" for, but is intended to capture a snapshot of who you or your loved one is in that moment. Parents really love this, but so do couples, and grandparents, and children alike.
Reflections give us the license to have fun and just be our natural selves validating that we're all perfect just the way we are.
In the spirit of these simple sessions, Reflections sessions are meant to last for a limited time and have limited options to save you the trouble of in-depth choices. Each session lasts approximately 20-30 minutes and is handled in an easy, carefree, music-driven environment. Our goal is to create memories while capturing them.
Directly following your session, you will be guided through an easy selection process where you have one image selection included with your session fee. From this selection you will receive one black and white fine art print up to 12"x12" as well as a share-quality, watermarked digital image of the same selection. Both the print as well as the digital share image will be delivered within 72 hours of your session making these sessions great for gifts as well.
You have the choice of scheduling these as single sessions or as monthly sessions that you order 12 months at a time. There are advantages of both single and monthly sessions.
Single Sessions: For those times you are looking for a quick, meaningful gift, need to fulfill that need as a parent to get photographs of your children but suffer the burden of time, or perhaps you have a loved one visiting whom you haven't seen for a while, single sessions help you spontaneously capture those moments.
Monthly Sessions: For those of us that marvel in the rate of growth, not only in our children, but in all of our relationships, ordering monthly sessions allows us to witness that growth over an entire year. From those monthly selections, we can assemble beautiful pieces of art to help you experience that wonder day in and out. From those sessions, we can also help you create memorable cards, calendars, custom art, and gifts that will allow you to share that growth and stay connected to all the loved ones in your life.
To make these sessions even more exciting, by keeping your print sizes consistent, we have also developed a system that allows you to make these into an interactive, standing piece of art in your home. Many families will assemble a tiled collection in their home where they can rotate in their updated prints allowing all sorts of arrangements. Sometimes this is of a single child interacting with themselves in a moment or over time at different ages. Other times, it is families being playful and interactive with one another through their art. When prints are rotated out of that display, they can either be gifted, repurposed to new areas of the home, or, we also offer customized folio covers that allow you to keep each year's prints tightly bundled so they rest into a beautiful collection to complement your shelf or coffee table. Because of the quality of these fine art prints, you can also expect to offer these as gifts to your children as they come of age and have families of their own creating the same experience with their own children.
There is a time for refined, personalized portraits sessions. For all the other fleeting moments, there are "Reflections".

The Best Way to Enjoy Reflections
Many of our families who LOVE Reflections decide to dedicate a space in their home for what we call our Reflection Wall. This is a designated wall display in your personal and/or work space that we design a collection with an appropriate number of square Reflections Frames. This collection of frames is meant to be a living piece of art, meaning, it is meant to change and grow with your family and not be a one and done. As you schedule new Reflections sessions, you can swap out the new prints with the old ones. Sometimes people like to mix and match to show the change and growth. It's always cool to see our children interacting with different versions of themselves at different ages. We even recommend getting creative with it. For example, maybe during our child's birthday week, we sub in only pics of them. We leave the frame backs open for easy swapping.
What do you do with the prints that you move out of the frames? We have a few recommendations:
1. You can purchase a customized folio cover that encases and houses the loose prints you aren't displaying. This folio can become a wonderful coffee table item that guests can unfold and flip through the stack of prints beautifully housed to showcase your beautiful family in a creative way. Folios are great too if you decide to do regular sessions so you can show your family by year just like if you were to have a family album made by year.
2. Gift the prints that you rotate out. Sometimes families will repurpose prints as gifts to grandparents and other relatives as they rotate in new prints. A fine art portrait print on watercolor paper is an experience that respectfully gives recognition to whoever is presented on its surface.
What are some other things people do with Reflections Images?
1. Holiday cards. Looking for a unique and fun look for your holiday greetings this year? Reflections are a beautiful way to authentically show your family. We create custom cards in a variety of formats, although our most popular are our soft touch 5x7 flat cards that come with envelopes. We can even get them printed with your return address or, if you have a spreadsheet of your recipients, get those printed on for you too.
2. Calendars. Calendars are a fun way to look at last year's Reflections images and see how much your family has grown in this new year. This is popular for families who opt to have a monthly Reflections session done so they can use images from the same month of the previous year in their calendar. These make great gifts at Christmas to offer a customized way of bringing in the new year with all your favorite people's smiling and fun faces.
3. Customized displays. Sometimes people want to make a statement piece that they plan to display for a very long time using these images. This could include the custom sizes and mediums BELLOMO STUDIOS offers with all of their tailored sessions as well, so even though Reflections was made to be a streamlined and easy system for capturing real moments, some of our clients prefer us to apply the shooting style to our more customized portrait sessions.
Reflections is an evolving system born from creativity and needs. There is NO wrong way to experience Reflections and we encourage you get outside the box and try something new that resonates with you. Reflections was made to be an accessible (financially and emotionally) way to capture our family in an affordable way that was stress free to remove the barriers that keep us from getting the important portraits of our children, selves, and family.
